I had very similar thoughts to yours during mass this week. Also, I think that Abraham's sacrifice is a precursor to the Presentation, where Mary too has to offer her son back to God. That image too is very moving for me, since I am asked to do that constantly, offer my dream of a child back to God, trusting Him with my life and future whether or not I become a mother.
